La Casa Del Habano Windsor, 358 Ouellette Ave., Windsor, Ontario N9A 1A6 is responsible for the personal information collected through casadelhabano.ca. We handle it in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
What we collect
- When you place an order: your name, email address, phone number, date of birth, delivery address if you choose delivery, what you ordered and any notes you add.
- When you write to us through the contact form: your name, email address and message.
- Payment: card details are entered with, and kept by, our payment processor. We do not see or store full card numbers.
- In your browser: your cart and your answer to the age question are stored on your own device (local storage) and are not sent to us until you place an order.
- Our servers keep standard logs (such as IP addresses and the pages requested) to keep the site secure and working.
Why we use it
- To confirm, prepare, take payment for and hand over or deliver your order.
- To verify that you are of legal age to buy tobacco, which the law requires.
- To contact you about your order or reply to your message.
- To keep records we must keep by law, such as tax records, and to prevent fraud.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
Only what each needs to do their job: our payment processor; the driver or delivery service that brings your order (name, address and phone number); and the companies that host our website and store its data on servers in Canada. We may also disclose information when the law requires it.
Cookies and third parties
The site does not use advertising or analytics cookies. Staff who sign in to manage the store get a sign-in cookie. Our home page shows a Google map, and our Facebook and Instagram links lead to those services: Google, Facebook and Instagram handle any data they collect under their own privacy policies.
How long we keep it
Order records are kept for as long as Canadian tax law requires (generally six years) and then deleted. Contact-form messages are kept for up to two years.
How we protect it
The site is served over an encrypted connection. Only our staff can see orders and messages, through a password-protected admin, and passwords are stored hashed.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw consent for uses the law does not require. Write to us at sales@casadelhabano.ca and we will reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
